As current professionals, your instructors are themselves in constant, professional training. Some might say that this is like getting gymnastic coaching from a gymnast in training for the Olympics - your coach is constantly bringing back the latest techniques and training tips to your dance lessons. Most dance studios in Scottsdale and Phoenix utilize deceptive sales techniques to entice dancers to take dance lessons at their studios. The typical "hook" is some sort of "introductory package" wherein you are offered a several dance lessons at a low-price. Shortly after you're in the door, you are then told that your introductory rate has come to an end - it's time to raise the prices of lessons (to sometimes more than 10-12 times what you first paid for dance lessons!) Furthermore, these "introductory lessons" are typically intended to intentionally offer you very limited actual, dance instruction, rather they are set-up to "give you a little taste" of dancing to increase the probability that you will agree to higher priced lessons.

Yes, it is a pretty dark story but the dance business is competitive. These sales tricks are fairly widespread and common in scottsdale and phoenix dance studios. Why does this matter?: While Latin or Salsa dance may appear great and exciting (and they are!), there are really a wide variety of ballroom and social dance styles out there for you to enjoy. Many of our students start dance lessons with one goal in mind and then later find that they are more competent in a totally different style - our studio allows for enjoyable experimentation. Furthermore, socially speaking, learning only one style or category of dance can be very limiting. Our staff are friendly and regularly interacts with groups from different studios for the purpose of offering our dancers more options to learn and practice. You won't find a single, snobby or aloof dance-type here, only people that welcome you and respect your desire to learn something that we all love!

Why does this matter?: Scottsdale and Phoenix dance studios really fall into two basic categories. The first is the competitive focused studios: These studios primarily focus on creating competition-ready dancers, typically offering a limited repertoire of learning options. These are great if you're interested in competing in that studio's specialty. The second type of dance studio is the large, socially-focused studios. These studios typically house large dance floors and very large student populations. The instructors are generally speaking, a little less experienced but the focus is teaching people to socially, get around the dance floor. There typically is very little focus on good technique and the dance studios are often over-crowded and have a lot of dancers coming and going. These, usually "brand name" studios, are great if you main focus is to meet a lot of people and/or to simply get onto a dance floor but for the price that some of these studios charge, most people would expect a little more than "bare-bones" instruction.
